Subject: Re: Arm rods

On one of my puppets I cut a hand form from the plastic of a coffee
can lid, glued the rod to this as well as wires for shaping the hand
(goop seems to stick to everything), inserted into the cloth hand and
stuffed it. The other end ran through a tube in the arm and came out
just below the elbow. The hand was then attached to the arm with a
small band of material. This gave me a lot of control on the movement
of the hand. It has held up very well after 5 years of constant use.
Also the rod is a little less noticeable. I only use one rod and the
other hand is attached using fishing line, by careful manipulation I
can give movement to the static hand.
