Gale Warshawsky here.

I really like John's suggestion below for the dragon to wear tennis 
shoes. That would make it quite comfortable for the puppeteer to walk 
around in, as well as something that the audiences could easily identify 
with (both the dragon part of the puppet and the tennis shoes.) Great 
idea Joe!
