I've also used latex with a wire armature. These hands don't look as good, and the latex tends to break down over time, becoming sticky and generally ucky looking. Also, paint (acrylic) doesn't take too well to latex. I would love to be able to carve gorgeous wooden hands, but I do not have the skill or the patience.
