Dear Rosemary (and others)

Issues of board involvement are something we have been spending a lot of
time on in the past two years as we developed our strategic plan. One of
the things we found most helpful was separating the needs of the company
from the personality of the artistic director: they are, in fact, two
different entities, even if I was the last to realize that blatant fact.

As a result of this process (funded with a generous grant from a local
foundation [one that values volunteers, by the way!] and through board
development training I got through a program developed by the
Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, I am now working with 2 other
organizations on board and organization development.

If there is anything I can help you (or anyone) with in this area,
please don't hesitate to ask.
