Thomas,

I was in your shoes a couple of years ago. I very badly needed to know how
to make puppets because I had a show to do in two weeks. I didn't have a
book on puppetry. Later I would find that I need many books on puppetry.
But I dove in headfirst and bought a bunch of wire and started bending it
into armatures, which I then later covered with papier mache. They were
rough-and-tumble, but they were puppets. It was a slow and painful, but it
was the beginning of a larger learning process.

In fact, this process was so inefficient that others in my troupe took away
this responsibility from me. Now I focus on writing, producing, and
directing. You'll find that these shows, even on a small scale, are
enormous amounts of work. So I suggest you start looking around, finding
the talented people around you and luring them in with the promise of
puppet-groupies or something.

Best of luck,
Joel

Hi!
I've been on this list for a while now, but this is my first time to send
anything to puptcrit. Well, I would like to try to make a puppet. The only
problem is I have no idea how. Could someone please give me some tips or
help? Thanks!
