OK, I know I promised to post something several days ago....computer broke
down and had to get it up and running again. Anyway, I was stumped as to
how to pull off the old fogey idea (thanks again Brian and Dorrie). Well,
after a lengthly conversation with my friend who is a photographer and is
more familiar with older potrait style cameras, and researching several
older photog books and magazines, I finally came up with the look. I have
not completed the script which I will discuss when it is finished. What I
was really worried about was putting the man behind the camera. Well, what
I have decided as far as that goes, is a simple metal armature covered with
stiffened clothing (and obviously ribbing for support). The drawings that
we did literally popped out of the page with personality. I loved it. It
will 1000 x's more simple to animate and have a more dramatic, cartoony
effect. I am so happy that everyone here was so helpful. I have been
working on this for about three months stumped the entire time. I have a
few thoughts here maybe you want to judge:
1. Do the guy standing behind the camera with a hood over his head and
upper body. His hand is extended to operate the shutter release. The
problem I have with this is that he would take up so much unneccessary
room, and add to the construction costs. I have a very limited amount of
room. I could make him smaller, but that might just look cheesy.

2. Make the camera on a tripod by itself and have cartoony arms come from
the camera to activate the shutter release. I "think" I could pull it off,
but have not made any drawings yet of this idea.

Well, I will most GIF files of these ideas on my page as soon as I transfer
the drawings to computer. I will let everyone know when they are availible.
I will post my script there too.
One last thing: If anyone reading this knows where I can find a cheap, beat
up, broken field camera (The kind with the bellows) I would like to
purchase it. I can make my own, which I probably will, but even having a
study model would be a great benefit. Thanks again everyone!!!!
If anyone has any mechanical or electronics questions, feel free to ask!
