You might want to check out the Cosmic Bicycle Puppet company their website is: http://home.earthlink.net/~walknbones/COSMICWEB/ We saw their production of Dr. Kronopolis and the Timekeeper Chronicles. A very "Ed Wood-ian" show. And it's right across teh street from "OLD DEVIL MOON" good Gulf Coast food, it was good to have some familiar food! IF you have a friend who works for Muppets, see if they can get you inside their workshops-you'll be blown away! There was so much in there to see and so much I wanted to know, a lot of questions were answered. Look in the Manhattan Yellow Pages under puppeteers, you'll find some companies listed who put on regular perfromances. Have fun! This is also in response to the person who suggested getting a mentor Fro the past 4 years, I have had Terry Snyder as my mentor. I cannot begin to tell you how much he has taught me, and I am still learning. But, the neat thing about our relationship is that we learn from each other, there is equal give and take. Terry has told me that by teaching me, he has reaffirmed what he does, it keeps him in check. So, it's not only good for the apprentice, but for the mentor as well. And the fact that we have become good friends helps tremendously. I became his apprentice after the Southeast Regional fest in Ashville. My dad and I helped him load in his show (Peter and the Wolf) and we got to watch his dress rehearsal. After the performance, I invited myself to his studios in Richmond, VA. two weeks later, I was on my way. I go bakc every summer for a week, and we stay in touch. I hope this encourages other young people to find someone to apprentice under. It has helped me greatly..... just food for thought david dsteph-AT-trojan.troyst.edu --- Personal replies to: David Stephens <dsteph-AT-trojan.troyst.edu> --- List replies to: puptcrit-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu --- Admin commands to: majordomo-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu
