It can stand alot of weight and is quite flexible and comes in all kinds of length and sizes. It has stood the test in very windy conditions in Chicago. The overall shape and body can be made from numerous materials as suggested in other post here on the list. I have also attached alluminum flats just for added security. If one does a large backpack there should be a spotter just in case. Or I've used the arm manipulators as the spots. My experince with PVC is if you drill into it to attach backpacks or other bits it tends to loose its strength and is subject to cracking.
