When I do shows in windy conditions, I usually anchor my scrim curtain in
the following manner:

1) A long piece of black elastic is fastened to the middle bottom of the
curtain with a safety pin.

2) The other end of the elastic is stretched down and tied to a shock cord,
which is hooked onto the two side bars which form part of the floor of the
stage. (The stage is basically an aluminum-pole cube, like a tent.

Maybe something similar would work for your backdrop.
