Hi all,

Someone asked about what wood carving tools are most necessary for
beginners.

I'd recommend two different tools besides sandpaper.

A medium width straight chisel for roughing out workpeices
and a medium #5 or #7 gouge for digging out recesses.

You can find all kinds of tools and books about woodcarving at
http://www.woodcraft.com

These guys are great!!

For sharpening I use a delta water stone and a cheap second hand bench
grinder with a buffing wheel and jeweler's rouge for final honing.

Remember, 20 degrees is the magic sharpening angle!
