There is a two-volume book called "The World of Karaghiozis" by A Yayannos
and others . While the text is in Greek with some English summaries, It is
primarily made up of beautiful color photos of Thanassis Spyropulos'
collection -- one volume for figures, the other for scenery.  It was
published by Athena in Greece in 1976, and I've seen it in several
university library collections -- I don't think it's all that rare.  I had
assumed that it had been out of print for many years, but I very recently
was able to order a brand new, wrapped -in-plastic copy (some pages had to
be carefully pried apart though -- humidity?) -- I don't know if was a
unique warehouse find or if others are available.  If interested, you can
try contacting this importer, The World Art Group,  and see if they can get
another copy (around $100 for both volumes, including shipping) .  They
have a websight, but this book was not listed in their catalog and was a
special order.  They were also able to get me an issue of a special issue
Czech theatre magazine containing a history of Czech puppetry.

in Greek Puppet Theatre. "Lexington: University Press of Kentucky, 1992.

Mysiades, Linda S. and Kostas Myrsiades. "The Karagiozis Heroic Performance
in Greek Shadow Theatre." Hanover: University Press of New England, 1988.

I'm not sure if these are in or out of print, but they show up very often
in academic libraries.
