From: IcarusPup-AT-aol.com Date: Fri, 18 Jun 1999 13:16:39 EDT Subject: Re: PUPT: Digital Age for Puppeteers Dori, I have to comment yet again. It troubles me to hear someone say they are against sessions on professional development being offered at what is essentially a professional conference. It also troubles me to hear someone say because they are not interested in a particular topic, they believe it should not be offered. Perhaps a better way to address this would be "I would not attend such a workshop." No offense to Jim and all the marvelous marionette performers, but I have zero interest in attending workshops on building marionettes. Does that mean I think they shouldn't be taught?!?!?! Rather than drafting a "pro-computer, con-computer" argument, maybe we should be thinking about what the role of our organization should be. After all, isn't the purpose of a professional organization to keep its members up-to-date on current trends and technologies effecting their industry? (Or at least shouldn't it be *one* of the goals?) Just a thought.
