Then you get into a lot of the trick marionettes. Bob Brown does do story shows with marionettes as a one person. So does Christopher Piper of the Puppet Co. One of the "tricks" is using a double airplane control, so that you can get the puppet to walk with one hand. Another "trick" is hanging the puppet off the bridge so that it's standing on stage, and then you can reach over and pull an hand string or wiggle it for a little movement. Hope this helps.
