From: Onute Puckoriute <undinele-AT-hotmail.com> Subject: PUPT: I never remember a name, but I ALWAYS forget a face Date: Fri, 02 Jul 1999 16:32:40 PDT Hi everybody, Just a few minutes ago me friend Dainius help me to subscribe to this list. The first letter I received , has this sentence: "I never remember a name, but I ALWAYS forget a face" I never remember the name but I ALWAYS remember a face with a history or which is an exeptionaly interesting. I am visiting my friend in the US. Originaly I am from Lithuania. I am a profesional actress at the Lithuanian Puppet Theatre "Lele". In september will be a 20 yers since I was acting there. Our theatre receiving full support from our government and tyhat's why we have a stable troupe of 17 actors. Three of us staing in the troup for the 40-th season. I hear , there in United states no steady troups. Only seasonally hired actors. Please corret me if I am wrong about it. I am appologize for my week english language, but I am very interesting in all info about puppets and puppetiers in the US. Me friend help me to find a lot of web sites with a various information, a lot of theatres all over the states but I can not find anything in Cleveland area, where I'm staing now. If anybody have any information about any activities in Cleveland, Ohio, please let me know. After three weeks our theater (7.23) , including me, will perform in Huston TX and Chicagho,IL. We will perform "Circus is Circus" (acting in english) If some of you want to see it,or want more info about it I will send you more information. Also if someone of you live in Huston, TX, or in Chicago, IL, you can come to our performance. Please let me know and I write you an exact dates and stages of our performance in those two cities. Besides acting in the theatre, I also start to create my own monotheatre. The first performance was a "Undinele" ("A litte Mermaid") not by the disney happy end script but by the original book of H.K.Andersen. in lithuanian language. I was preparing a english version of it but two years ago I was invited to preform in Glover, Vermont (Bread and Puppet Theatre) and I changed my mind. I so a lot of english speaking spektakors so exiting about this performance in lithuanian language. And I thought the language is not a barrier for it. But now, after I was talking to a lot of american artists, most of them try to prove to me - americans can accept only english version ???? One musician brought an example about a musician singing in spanish (viva locca) but only after he start to sing in english, all country start to listen it ??? If any of you can help me to understand american audience, please write to me. I bring with me a few glove (hand?)puppets and before the tour in Texas I will perform for lithuanians in one of the Lithuanian community celebrations. If any of you have any ideas or suggestions or proposals, let me know . All summer (until july 22 and after august 16) you can reach me in Cleveland OH Sincerely, Onute Puckoriute ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com --- Personal replies to: Onute Puckoriute <undinele-AT-hotmail.com> --- List replies to: puptcrit-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu --- Admin commands to: majordomo-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu
