I think if we had the opportunity to watch reruns of Burr's work, we'd still 
get a kick out of his genius. He came as close as any TV puppeteer to 
appealing to an adult audience. His material was sophisticated yet reached 
the kids on some level. He "said" a lot more than most folks recognized.  And 
I feel that he had a broader base than many were aware of. 

Consider the commotion that was stirred up when the network decided to take 
him off nightly broadcasts and put him on once a week. 

I know that we are talking regularly scheduled shows here, but what about the 
quality and sophistication of Senor Wences' (Wenceslau Moreno) performances, 
Topo Gigio and especially Sherri Lewis, to name a few.  I certainly think 
that these great puppet artists had a large adult following.
