Mary, yes, Family Theater is a good way to describe to the layman what we are trying to do. Unfortunately we do have to inform our audiences and differentiate between Adult and Children's/Family theater as they often no longer seem to make and educated decision for themselves. (Hmm, "The Exorcist" with puppets. Let's take little Jonny and Jane, it says puppets...) Dorlis, I don't agree that all theater companys should do both as their interest and assests may not allow them to do both and do them well. I would much rather have them choose one to do well than to choose both and end up doing them both poorly. It sounds like the problem with some of the junk coming into the theater is not the time allowed (55 min) but the fact that there is too much filler and not enough substance. I would also venture to guess that they have cut out any semblance of conflict or evil character in fear of offending .01% of the audience. No wonder they are pandering junk with only a skeleton of a plot. David, yes this "Hungry like a wolf" approach is indeed part of the reason you succeed. If I were hungrier I guess I would be more agressive about it. But with an overhead much lower than yours I don't need to be (takes less to fill me up, so to speak). I certianly didn't mean to imply that you didn't hussle or that it was easy for you. But your illustration did further my point. If it were easy we'd all be making $70K and turning away work. Well, that was fairly short. It looks like this thread has about run out. Now I can move on to throw my 2 cents worth into the training/backgroung thread.
