I've had both plywood and trunk fiber break on tour.  I use nylon or
teflon.  It's easy to mill both of them, and the teflon has an internal
lubricant, so you get very nice action.  For emergency repairs-
rubbermaid dust pans.  And yes, it has to be rubbermaid, because the
other dustpans are brittle.
