Right; that's great--playing on the street is a hard bop, so to speak.  My
point is precisely that street performers quickly learn how to attract and
hold an audience; it's rare to find a street performer who can't do so.
It's unlikely that, as in the movie, a talented street performer would be so
lackluster as to play in a bad locale or be incapable of attracting an
audience.  That's the part that rings untrue.  When you play on the street
you have to figure out the best place to attract a crowd (i.e., Central
Park, as Mavis relates), and clearly Mavis and Steve Widerman did this quite
effectively.
