At the shop I worked with the flocking wand, we tried rabbit hair, bad very bad. It shot straight up to the metal pipes over head and hung like really creepy cobwebs. Why it went up instead of down was totally dependent on unseen forces. Which is what happens when you give something a net charge and then hope that there are no other more attractive forces in the area. Everything carries some form of charge and the pieces of flock that don't find their way into the adhesive on the object that you want, will find themself another convenient place to live with an attractive force that they want to get cozy with. Flocking is kind of like pearlescent pigments. You will find it all over the place for the rest of forever. - Jon >From: Christopher Hudert <heyhoot-AT-mindspring.com> >Reply-To: puptcrit-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu >To: puptcrit-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu >Subject: Re: PUPT: Flocking.... >Date: Fri, 3 Dec 1999 01:56:18 -0500 > > > Am I correct that the difference is that the electrostatic flocking will >result in the "hairs" sticking to the puppet on one end, whereas, the-non >electrical version is less orderly?< > > I'm not sure, but if the same principals apply as to electrostatic >painting the charge that attracts the flocking would greatly eliminate >waste and help provide a more even coating - in addition to the "orderly" >alignment of the "hairs." > > >Christopher > > > > > --- Personal replies to: heyhoot-AT-mindspring.com (Christopher Hudert) > --- List replies to: puptcrit-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu > --- Admin commands to: majordomo-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu > --- Archives at: http://lists.village.virginia.edu/~spoons > > ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com --- Personal replies to: "Murvin Irving" <bluesrooster-AT-hotmail.com> --- List replies to: puptcrit-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu --- Admin commands to: majordomo-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu --- Archives at: http://lists.village.virginia.edu/~spoons
