Hi again Bradford and all

I went off on a rant and forgot to mention that "RED ROSIN SHEATHING
PAPER" is what you are wanting. It's was created for roofers who use it
to catch asphault spills and such.

It is by far the perfect medium for laminated paper mache. It has very
long fibres and when pre-soaked in very hot water becomes so maleable as
to be putty-like..... It moulds beautifully! It's also VERY
in-expensive costing about $15-18 USD for a huge bolt of the stuff. You
can usually find it at building supply emporiums like Home Depot and
OSH.

The trick with laminated paper mache is finding just the right glue for
the job. These days I will use either yellow alphatic-resin glue
(carpenters glue) or pre-mixed animal hide glue. Each one imparts a
different feel and degree of hardness. I then use animal glue gesso
for surfacing, which can be sanded as smooth as glass......unlike it's
acrylic counterpart.

                           Cheers,

                      Steve Weber
