Bill,
I have to agree with Dave Riley and Prof. Will.  I, too, am fairly new to
puppetry, but the things that really got me going were performing and
making friends with other puppeteers and professionals.  Now I tend to get
frustrated by just reading about it.  Looking at new books and videos make
me ache to do more performing and building.  It's good to keep your nose in
the books, but as the saying goes "just do it."
