The Tonda troupe performs traditional Japanese bunraku puppetry -- one of the great classical Japanese art forms. The performance, the only one of its kind this year in Virginia, is sponsored by the UVa East Asia Center. The troupe will be performing three pieces from the classical bunraku repertoire, and will also give a demonstration of puppetry technique and convention. We hope that many of you will come out to witness this unique and exciting cultural event! Tickets, only $6 for students ($12 general), are available in C'ville at Mincer's on the Corner, Plan 9 Records (all locations) and New Dominion Bookshop on the Downtown Mall, and can also be purchased at the door. For more information on the puppets, check out the article in this week's C-Ville paper or visit our on-line newsletter (http://www.virginia.edu/~eastasia/sept01-news.pdf). --- Personal replies to: Jett McAlister <mcalister-AT-virginia.edu> --- List replies to: puptcrit-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu --- Admin commands to: majordomo-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu --- Archives at: http://lists.village.virginia.edu/~spoons
