If you see increasing amounts coming into your mailbox it may be because you
opened or responded to an email offer. These are often sent out en masse to
random email addresses. When the these mails are as much as previewed by our
wonderful friend Outlook (Express) it can genererate a response to the
original sender. Once it is a known active address then it is verified in a
database and your door has just been marked as a target for more spam. The
databases are sold to anyone that wants them. A way to at least slow this
down is to have the mail filtered to a junk mail folder, or delete them
without previewing. You can usually tell by the sender (lots of numbers and
odd characters) or the subject field. The other way that they get names is
by buying them from sites that you visit. Just about every site you go to
puts a cookie in a folder on your computer. This usually holds information
that you enter anywhere on the website i.e. email address, name. Desktop
firewall software can prohibit cookie response information from going out
from your computer. There are some great sites that help you to eliminate or
report spam. Here is a good article on CNN that gives you more info:

Sorry so long> it's what I deal with when I am not in my world of puppets.
