I like the aluminum mini-pars from http://www.highoutput.com.  They're a 
little longer than some, which means media last longer.  I don't use 
barn-doors, but make custom flaps from black wrap or broiler weight aluminum 
sprayed with barbeque black.  These instruments are commonly called 
"birdies" in the lighting trade and can sometimes be picked up used at large 
rental services.  Check the sockets and the strain relief on the power cord. 
Also these are so light you can replace the yoke for direct mounting and 
just screw a sheet-metal angle bracket to the scenery or the ceiling.  Bend 
the end at right angles.
