Since carpet foam comes in many different varieties some take to paint better: some have a sheen, some have a weird white fuzz, some are speckled and composite, others are homogeneous and usually much lighter....after much experimentation I now have my favorites depending on what I am doing. Contact cement is my favorite adhesive for carpet foam. I'm particularly fond of carpet foam because we have a magic carpet store dumpster near our shop where we miraculously find the exact kind of foam everytime we need it, and never at any other time: when building giant catapillare all there was was speckled green, for the ape-men we found just enough pinkish brown, for the old crone baba yaga nothing was usable except some greenish blue stuff perfectly fit for her arms.... Cheers, Sophia (ps--i promise i'll do some catching up off puptcrit--soon! my regards to the mtn.) --- Emily DeCola <emzwemz-AT-yahoo.com> wrote: > > I recently used the under-carpet foam (great texture > and it was free) painted with liquid latex to make > undulating rolls of fat for a naked psychic > puppet... it was wonderfully strong and flexible, > but I had trouble getting paint to stick to it - > tried acrylic, and it peeled off. spray paint > seemed to work better, but also flaked. any > thoughts out there?
