    Re: Dodecahedron:
All 24 "sticks" or tubes are of equal length. Otherwise, they will not
work correctly. For a model, you can lay out 24 straws linked by a single
strand of string. Make 4 X's with tops and bottoms...Start at the upper
left, cross diagonally to the bottom of the first X, then back to the left
across the bottom and up diagonally to the top right of the first X. Repeat
three more X's and place the final 4 segments across the tops of the 4 X's.
Tie each center of the 4 X's and tie at the corners, then fold the 3rd and
4th X's over the 1st and 2nd and you have the dodecahedron.
I've make at least 50 of these in different incarnations...sometimes
making the triangles made from the bottom/tops and center of the X's as
solids plates, sometimes painting the "inside" and "outside" complimentary
colors, sometimes wrapping the tubes with tinsel or ribbon. I am now on the
trail of illuminating the inside of the tubes of the dodecahedron with fibre
optics.
Hopefully, this description is not too difficult to follow. If I had a
pad and paper, it would be a snap. Do you want jpegs? JIm Gamble
