Subject: Re: PUPT: Piano wire and hints on use.

Well, Mostly I use the vise banging method for bending right angles in
finishing nails to replace the pins in loose-pin hinges that are used on
an old portable stage I built years ago. This method has worked fine for
me for almost twenty years. Most of the solid rod bending I do is done
in one of the two wire bending jigs that I own, and as I indicated,
these don't cost very much.

As far as using longer lengths to get short end bends, the rods I get
from local hardware stores are not that long to begin with. On the rare
occasions that I've had to make a 1/2 inch bend at the end of a rod,
without any waste, the vise was the quick and dirty solution. I'm not
purchasing piano lengths of this stuff. But I certainly will keep your
suggestion in mind if I ever have to do this with half lengths or the rods...Thanks!
