The little I know about grants will fit right here in this paragraph, but I'll share it anyway. Artists can apply for grants for specific programs such a residencies, or individual artist fellowships, through the government. Here in Florida we go to the Florida Department of State Division of Cultural Affairs. Website is www.dos.state.fl.us/dca if you'd like to see what they offer. I'm sure each states'government must have similar programs. Also check your county's arts council, sometimes they have money earmarked for local artists. Now, are there any other ways to get money? I'd love to know how, I've been eager to start a puppetry education program at our local theater but I need money to make it happen. What about asking corporations for sponsorships? How does one go about that? I don't imagine you just march into the CEO and say, hey I need bucks for my puppet show. There must be a protocol. Anyone?
