Subject: Re: PUPT: grants

I wish I knew how to establish funding. Puppetry as a creative & expressive
art form and art psychotherapy are completely alien concepts here, very
different from the east coast. The people here often get blank looks when I
explain what I do - not a good sign. There must be a better way than saying
"Give me money!' or "give me a job, gosh dang it, I got to feed my pets &
plants." I'm tired of people telling me to volunteer - unless they provide
the funding for me to volunteer. I volunteered through various org.s,
hospitals, etc. throughout adolescence & young adulthood. I'm through with
volunteering- we do have to pay the bills.
I remember a former professor saying that grant writing is a talent in
itself, being persistant and convincing without being obnoxious. The
question is how & where? I had a slight idea in NYC, but over here in the
Mountains, I don't have a clue.
