KEEP THE LITTLE ANGEL FLYING!


The Little Angel Theatre is one of the leading children's theatres in the UK
and now faces closure due to a lack of core support from the Arts funding
system.

The theatre specialises in puppetry and hundreds of thousands of children
have been delighted by the magic of its high quality shows at its Islington
home, and in schools and theatres around the UK. It is an invaluable
education resource for primary children, adding value to school curricula,
inspiring imaginations and stimulating creativity through innovative project
work.

The Little Angel is also a beacon for puppetry as an artform, providing a
vital focus for training and development of puppeteers, puppet-makers,
designers, directors and writers, and giving artists from all disciplines
opportunities to draw on its unique facilities. Its value as a nursery of
artists of the future is incalculable.

We, the undersigned, believe that this unique venue cannot be allowed to die
and that it deserves to be supported as an essential part of arts provision
in this country. We urge the Arts Council and Islington Borough Council to
take all possible steps to ensure that the Little Angel Theatre receives the
core funding it needs to survive and develop as a leader in puppetry and
theatre for children.
