April 10 and 17 Hello All, Any of you who will be in L.A. in the next two weeks might be interested in Club Puppet at the Palace in Hollywood on Wednesday April 10 and Wednesday April 17. Two nights of puppetry for adults from 6 PM to 12 AM both nights. There will be a 2 hour program which will repeat 3 times, including over 20 puppeteers, and all kinds of styles of puppetry. There will be a live band and lots of singing. Paul Zaloom and Howard Cohen will be performing as guest artists, and there will be all kinds of other acts from the resident company. The Palace is on Vine just north of Hollywood Boulevard. It is on the west side of Vine, across the street from the Pantages where Lion King is running. Cover for the evening is $10, and everyone is welcome to stay for all 6 hours if they feel like it. A shadow show I created at UCLA in 1983 as part of the MFA program there will be in the lobby, performed by 5 puppeteers about once per hour. Puppets I made for a show at the Open Fist Theater in Hollywood last year will be on display in the Cafe at the Palace downstairs. The main area for performances will be upstairs in the patio bar and the room next to it. The mezzanine will be turned into a puppet aquarium. There will be opportunitites for patrons to try out puppets in various areas as well. Club Puppet was originally presented almost two years ago for one evening at a bar in L.A. There were 3 performances that night which were all sold out. It has taken until now to get it up and running again. Several of the strong acts from that night will be repeated now. The scale of this event is many times larger than the original Club Puppet. Our hope is that it will become an ongoing event at the Palace every Wednesday night. If you're in L.A. either of those nights, come on down.
