David Weiss, principle oboist for the LA Philharmonic Orchestra plays the 
musical saw and from what he explained to me, it was a regular regulation 
ordinary saw, played with a violin bow.  If you wish more info, contact him 
at the LA Philharmonic. I'm sure they have a web site.  His performance was
