Subject: PUPT: script/not scripts for kids

With my students, (K-4, moderate special needs) we usually read a story,
such as the Egyptian Cinderella, several times, before making some sentence
strips for important scenes. Kids can use the dialog from the book if it
makes sense to them, but often just use that dialog as the basis of their
speeches; also we adding more speeches for the minor characters, so
everyone gets a part or two. We rehearse for a few days before presenting
our "dress rehearsals" to other classes in the school.

We have made hand puppets, rods, and for this last show--shadow puppets. All
are awed and amazed by our creations. liz freeman, Massachusetts
