Subject: PUPT: there is creativity in public schools

There is creativity in public schools...some more than others.

Today I watched a wonderful 25 min play about Harriet Tubman, that the third
grade bilingual teacher wrote and produced for social studies. Her
assistant made great costumes, and another teacher helped them make 3 giant
painted backdrops for scenery on sheets that were moved like shower curtains
on 2 rope strung across the classroom. Desks were moved out into the
hallway for the day. Music teacher had helped teach the songs. Kids did a
great job.

Our art teacher only has 40 min classes, without any time between
classes, and it's art on a cart, in classrooms that are carpeted...
so, projects do have to be done rather quickly, she has no storage room.
Her "desk" is a table in the room with teacher's refrig and shelves of
reading books. NOW,teachers with art rooms, don't have an excuse.
