Subject: PUPT: Elephant, anyone?

Hello, all -

For an upcoming production of the Broadway musical "Barnum," I'm charged
with creating the illusion of "Jumbo" the world's biggest elephant.

Jumbo is needed to be sooooo large that the elephant dwarfs the
standard-sized actor who is portraying the character of General Tom Thumb.

In the original production, Jumbo's legs and trunk descended from the flies,
leaving the main body of the elephant invisible, and filled in by the
audiences imagination. Unfortunately, that won't work for me as the theatre
where this production will be performed has no ceiling! It's an outdoor
theatre.

I think there's an opportunity here to come up with something terribly
clever in it's simplicity, but I'm not quite able to put my finger on it...

Any thoughts, anyone?

Most appreciative of any assistance...
