Subject: PUPT: Re: Elephant, anyone? Date: Fri, 21 Jun 2002 00:07:44 -0400 I am not familiar with the show you are doing, but if you might want to check out the "The Lion King: Pride Rock on Broadway" by Julie Taymour if you haven't already. There is a bit of info in there about how they made their elephants and photos of some of the models. You also might want to try a giant puppet book called "Big is Beautiful" by Lois Walker that I believe the PofA Store carries. I think it has plans for a giant elephant in it. Hope this helps, Andrew Omle Media ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott Richardson" <figments-AT-fgi.net> To: <puptcrit-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu> Sent: Thursday, June 20, 2002 11:04 PM Subject: PUPT: Elephant, anyone? > > Hello, all - > > For an upcoming production of the Broadway musical "Barnum," I'm charged > with creating the illusion of "Jumbo" the world's biggest elephant. > > Jumbo is needed to be sooooo large that the elephant dwarfs the > standard-sized actor who is portraying the character of General Tom Thumb. > > In the original production, Jumbo's legs and trunk descended from the flies, > leaving the main body of the elephant invisible, and filled in by the > audiences imagination.
