Subject: RE: PUPT: Sound Systems Date: Sat, 22 Jun 2002 22:38:54 -0700 Personally I love ElectroVoice speakers. Mics - cheap ones pretty much sound cheap; most decent makes offer a budget range which will do a good job - Shure, AKG, Beyer for instance, and if you go wireless you should go for UHF rather than cheapo VHF, which will interact with all sorts of things and give you constant grief. Look at AKG for a decently-priced UHF system. I could go on at MUCH greater length, but I'll spare you.............. Graham -bject: Re: PUPT: Sound Systems . but by all means AVOID RADIO SHACK AT ALL COSTS. because in the end it'll cost ya. You know I hear people give this warning all the time but the ones who do for the most part have never tried Radio Shack.Dave Allen the Magic Man www.puppetcircus.com Actually I have used some good radio shack stuff myself but emphatically empasize that if you are swayed in that direction don't even consider wireless mikes--- Bad experience multiplied by ten (Before most of you were born, I recall watching Barbara Streisand in the Boston pre-broadway production of- - something. I think it was the one about Fanny Brice. In the middle of a key number (my memory, faulty as it may be says it was _People Who Need People) her wireless mike began picking up Police Calls. She apparently couldn't hear it, but the Audience could and she got more and more frustrated as the audience screamed in laughter. If you find out what kind of wireless mike she was using, don't get that either!) Richard Johnson (writing from a guest computer on the road) Get more from the Web.
