Subject: PUPT: A Call To Artists

This is a message to puppeteers in the New York metro area or who travel 
through this area.

South Orange New Jersey has a very nice 70 seat theater, located in the 
village community center. This is the former community theater space but is 
now under used. I have been speaking with the director of the Parks and rec 
department, He is intrested in bringing in performers to use the space. We 
both think that puppets would be a great use for this intimate stage. The 
down side is at present there is no budget for this project. I am hoping 
that some of you would be willing to performe for a split gate. This could 
be an opportunity to try out new material or to fill a hole in your 
schedule. I am meeting agian with him right after the 4th of July and hope 
to be able to tell him about 5 or 6 possible shows for the fall and early 
winter.

If this works I will be able to apply for grants to help cover more of the 
expenses.

This is not limited to children's or family performers more adult (not 
blue) programs would go well here. South Orange is a small community but 
this project could draw audiences from around the area. we are located 27 
min from midtown by NJTransit. This is a very arts aware community, on 
Sunday we broke ground on a new performing arts center with a 300 seat 
theater. We are home to many musicians, actors and artists.
