Perhaps in the movie and TV industries, but we're even seeing a comeback with puppetry on those screens with Crank Yankers, and, the now cancelled, Greg the Bunny. For the kid market, there's Book of Pooh, and Bear in the Big Blue House that are all puppet casts. Pooh even combines puppetry with CGI sets. There will always be the need for puppetry in live theatre because puppetry offers an organic experience that computers can hold a candle to. Though, John Lassater and his folks at Pixar are doing much to argue that point...I SO enjoyed "Monsters, Inc." on many levels, one of those being the creation and evolution of characters that were well rounded and that I could identify with. And they tell a good story. That's the basis for it all. If there is a good story and the telling is good, no matter what media is employed to tell it, you've got something lasting.
