I think what make the classic Star Wars films so great was that it was really difficult to create the effects, to bring the vision, to life. Nowadays, you can cook up just about anything on a computer. The audiences subconsciously know this and I think it lessens the effect of the special effect. Imagine that Yoda sequence if they did it using the techniques from 'Empire Strikes Back' or even current animatronics. It would be a challenge to pull of, but I think it would be a better sequence. Just because we have all this nifty technology, doesn't mean we have to use it.
