At our new studio the cell phones don't work due to a lack of satellite
coverage.

That'll teach `em! :-)

> There is a way to deal with this. Some performers and theatres make an
announcement that all pagers, cell phones & alarms are to be turned off
prior to performance. The audience is often warned that the perpertrator
will be ridiculed public (in a half joking tone of course, but it gets the
point) if a alarm or phone goes off. People today are often unaware what is
considered theatre etiquette & just need to be politefully reminded &
embarrassed if they continue. There's nothing wrong with stating the 'rules
of theatre' before a performance - kids can't be expected to know & many
adults aren't theatre savvy.

other or on the phone otherwise I wouldn't go. If it distracts me in my
work, I bring a cd walkperson to listen to. Sometimes I'm expecting a phone
call from someone long distance or related to a contract job. I focus better
in a cafe & can't be sitting home all day waiting for a call.

a sign up asking people to step outside if they get a call.
