produced by W.P.Puppet Theatre Society and 
the Community Services Centre - University of Calgary.


Goal

To explore how the art of puppetry can be used to celebrate, respect and reflect the racial and cultural diversity of our society. 

Celebrate - an invitation to people of all cultural groups to participate, share, tell stories, eat good food, make friends and have fun.

Respect - use the medium of traditional puppetry to address some of the issues around diversity and multiculturalism, at the same time validate the traditions concerned:
     i.e.:    attaining literacy and fluency in English
               racism and intolerance
              citizen's rights and privileges.

Reflect -   to offer cultural learning through the medium of traditional puppetry, thus encouraging tolerance and understanding.

Artists/companies with productions following a traditional style of puppetry and artists with ideas for workshops (1/2 day or full day), lectures or exhibits that relate to the goal of Puppet Power 2003, are invited to contact Wendy Passmore-Godfrey, Artistic Director for further information.
