An inexpensive solution I've used with teenagers is to get cheap dark
knee-highs from local chainstores (around 2 pair for a dollar on sale) and
cut a small thumb hole in the heel plus a finger tip slit near the toe.
These need to be smaller than you'd think. They're cheap enough to have
ones for every puppeteer and be disposable. As for drying out puppets, I
have hung them over an old hot air popcorn-popper. (which is nothing but a
big hairdryer in a standing case. Old hose type hair-dryer can also be
salvaged and are also useful for defrosting the fridge. To get crap out of
a puppet, try putting a small amout of old hard rice plus a few old beans.
Shake well and dump out the contents. Then vacuum using a shop vac. Might
do the job.
