Here is copy of a note from Klara Lichtagova to my colleague on the Br|UNIMA Committee, Robert Fowler. (Puppet theatre Rise Loutek is where UNIMA was founded. The destroyed archives included books, plays, photographs and other historic material. The puppets however are safe including those from Sucharda.)

"The floods were really terrible. They have affected all the villages and
towns along the Vltava and other rivers. In Prague, as well you know, many
buildings were flooded and some of them colapsed. I think that the worst was
and will be for the people who have lost everything. They must be very brave
now.
Our theatre, Rise loutek, was under water as well. You know what it was like
there, the deep basement where we had archives and props etc had water up to
the ceiling, and the audience hall was half full.
Since the water went down, we have been working there, moving everything
away: most of the documents and furniture have to be thrown away.
FORTUNATELY, we have saved the puppets. But we have no props.
Lots of work still has to be done. Yesterday professionals came to check the
walls, ceiling, and so on, and they have told us that it won=B4t be possible
to play there until maybe next year. Mainly because it takes ages to dry.
I still cannot believe it."
