The play is "Identity, or I Am Because My Little Dog Knows Me". I forget
what volume it is in. Burr Tillstrom referred to the play once in an
interview with Studs Terkel (collected in his book, The Spectator). Thorton
Wilder directed a group 1936 in the play; his advise to them: "Don't worry
about the meaning of the words, just think how beautiful they are."

I read the play in a book that collected other pieces including "What are
Masterpieces" which is definitely worth the read, and the time it will
consume while you ponder her argument.
