why I personally avoided commenting...

Unfortunately, there are going to be immature people who aren't astute writers who end up throwing themselves into the fire. And people (understandably or oversensitively) respond in kind no matter what the topic is or what elist it is, especially if it's not strictly moderated.

This happens all the time on my lists based in Colorado.
Unfortunately, this happened quite recently on 3 lists where on the whole I respect most of the people deeply - either by knowing them personally or because they are intelligent & eloquent writers. On one list- which is internationally based, the person who created the outrage was from Colorado coincidentally enough (it wasn't me- the person started Witnessing people in the group!!). The other two were this group & another group based in Boston.

And this is quite unusual from those groups...
On my other lists, I'm so used to people flaming, disrespecting & people calling each other names.  It used to really upset me because I often was one of the people consistantly attacked because of my values & opinions. It ended up being so regular that now I go on 'uh oh, idiot detector mode...' and would view the escalation amusingly & disappointingly.

Yet another incident to chalk up...

On the lighter side, I have to say I had a fabulous time in Belgium!! So much art, culture & yes, REAL PUPPETRY!!  I wish I could have seen more- but we didn't have enough time & we left near the start of the Gent Festival.  I highly recommend the Gent Festival- International Puppeteers Buskars Festival if anybody goes to Belgium late July.

Anybody heard of Theatre Frau Frau?  Is there a website?  I peaked through their windows & their puppet building looks pretty impressive.
