Don Vestal's production of Identity, or I am, because My Little Dog Knows
Me was performed at the first American Puppetry Conference and Festival, in
Detroit in the summer of 1936, organized by Paul McPharlin. Burr Tillstrom
(19 at the time) was one of the puppeteers. The Puppeteers of America has
published a reprint of the Conference program, which includes production
information about the Stein/Vestal play as well as a very intriguing
photograph of it.

The volume of correspondence between Gertrude Stein and Thornton Wilder
includes several letters referring to the puppet play.

I'm glad Wayne Krefting figured out where the play is published!
