Date: Fri, 20 Sep 2002 16:43:17 -0500 Subject: PUPT: Sad News This piece from today's Westchester Journal News (Gannett) was emailed to me by a mutual client of Paul's and mine: Friday, September 20th, 2002 - PEABODY, PAUL - Paul Peabody, Sr., of Upper Nyack, NY, died on September 17th of a heart attack. Paul Peabody was a gifted marionette maker, beloved to generations of children and their parents for his enchanting marionette shows and for his gentle and generous spirit. Paul lived with his wife Jo (Sylvia) in Nyack for 45 years. He was a graduate of Princeton University and worked for 36 years at the Fellowship of Reconciliation, dedicated to non-violent resolution to conflicts throughout the world. Paul leaves behind his wife, Jo, of Upper Nyack; son Paul Peabody, Jr. and Suzanne Lelogeais of Manhattan;son Timothy Peabody and wife Margaret Bryant of Valley Cottage; daughter Jeanne Walsh and husband Daniel Walsh of Suffern, and grandchildren: Ellsa B. of Valley Cottage and Zachary of Suffern. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paul's name to the Riverview Nursery School, 150 Piermont Avenue, Nyack, NY. Funeral Services will be held privately. A Memorial Service and celebration of Paul's life will be held at the Nyack Center on South Broadway, Nyack, on Saturday, September 28, between 1-4 PM. All are welcome. End of Article Paul was not a joiner and never belonged to PofA or local guilds even though I encouraged him to. Everyone in our region new his work and his beautiful hand carved marionettes. I first met Paul in the mid 1980's and he and I often worked the same events. He was someone from another era, an oldfashioned woodcarver marionette presenter who brought joy to so many young children and their parents. He will be missed.
