Puppet Power 2003- Embracing Multiculturalism Seminar
April 25-27, 2003 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Produced by W.P. Puppet Theatre Society and the Community Services Centre- University of Calgary.

Goal
To explore how the art of puppetry can be used to celebrate, respect and reflect the racial and cultural diversity of our society.

Celebrate - an invitation to people of all cultural groups to participate, share, tell stories, eat good food, make friends and have fun.

Respect - use the medium of traditional puppetry to address some of the issues around diversity and multiculturalism, at the same time validate the traditions concerned:
i.e.: attaining literacy and fluency in English
                        racism and intolerance
                        citizen's rights and privileges.

Reflect - to offer cultural learning through the medium of traditional puppetry, thus encouraging tolerance and understanding.

Artist/companies with productions following a traditional style of puppetry and artist with ideas for workshops (1/2 day of full day), lectures or exhibits that relate to the goal of Puppet Power 2003, are invited to contact Wendy Passmore-Godfrey, Artistic Director for further information.
