Subject: PUPT: Show and workshop rates

Hello puppeteers,

I think it's a good idea to share information about rates.

I do most of my shows at synagogues for Jewish holidays. I do solo shows. I charge $750 plus travel expenses for a 50 minute show outside of L.A., and $500 for shows in L.A. The past few years I've been flying around the country doing shows fairly often. Lots of places say "that's way
too much" and don't hire me. I just say, "I've been doing this over 30 years. I'm worth it." Lots of places are quite matter a fact about it, and I get the feeling more would have been okay. I charge the same amount for workshops, which includes materials. I do up to 4 one hour
sessions the day of the workshop for that price (usually it will be four separate classes, one hour at a time.) I spend about an hour prepping and cleaning up for every hour of workshop time. Sometimes places would rather have me do one big workshop than 4 smaller ones, which is fine
also. This year, I've started offering a free set of my 8 "Alef...Bet...Blast-Off!" videos to synagogues that book a show and workshop on the same day. If anyone would like to visit my websites, drop by lenlevitt.com and jewishkidvid.com.

Best,
Len Levitt
